This is the practice project from chapter 15 of the book Unity Game Development (Sams). The name is Captain Blaster, it’s the classic space shooter with some 3D, the project itself was a challenge, the book didn’t provide the models and resource, so I took the liberty to modify the visuals and add some effects.

Visuals added (not present in the book)

  1. Bullet leaves a trail in the space, looks like a laser
  2. A background with a tillable texture
  3. A real spaceship model (found it in the Unity asset store for FREE)

Effects added

  1. Explosions (with sound)
  2. Object rotation of the ship

Controls

Movement: A & D keys

Shoot: space bar
